I managed to strip one of the CVT cover threads on my LX50 when re-installing the cover. Does anyone have recommendations on how to repair? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried chasing the thread with a tap? What location on the cover?

Options I can think of include doing nothing, tapping up to the next larger size bolt, installing a helicoil, or - the hopes and dreams approach - cleaning out the stripped hole with brake cleaner, coating the bolt with wax, stuffing JB Weld into the hole, and reinstalling the bolt hoping the threads will sort themselves out to some useful degree and the wax will let you remove the bolt someday later.

I'd probably do nothing. You can certainly get away with one missing bolt on the CVT cover.

PS: agree you should chase the threads in the case with a tap, but also make sure the threads on the bolt are clean, either with a die or a replacement. You'd think the harder steel always wins over the soft aluminum in the CVT case, but it doesn't always.

I'd go M7 or repair with time-serts...

Loctite thread repair works very well, and it's made to do exactly what the name of the product says.

that is interesting. I feel like buying some and deliberately stripping some threads on something (not on my scoot) so I can try it

If it's 6mm 0.236 inch.
WAG.
If you can find a 1/4-28 inch bolt to match the metric bolt length. Tap the hole with 1/4-28 using WD-40 for lube. Easiest fix I can think of but you'll need a 7/16 socket to remove it. What The? emoticon

I had a couple of those on my ZNEN. I needed TWO sockets to remove the cover.
