32 mile wind therapy ride yesterday (Apr 22). Took a ride to Rocky River OH USA to visit the location of my old video store to get some aerial photography of the two different places where the store had been. Just so happened there was a guy named Matt and his son that was assembling tables and chairs for his bar/restaurant (Gather Food and Drink)--at the exact same video store front location. After taking a few aerial shots of the buildings, I landed the drone, walked over and chatted with him and his son for a while. They were closed, but I have to come back and try their food.
Got back on the bike and headed west on Lake Rd where I passed a guy who was pulled over on the side of the road in Bay Village. I stopped and asked if he needed any help. Turned out he ran out of gas. After a brief conversation, turns out he's from Avon as well and he's a photographer/videographer, so we kinda hit it off. He had a gasoline container so I offered to take the container to the closest gas station and return with some gas. Used the motorcycle app on my phone to locate the nearest gas station which was about 2 miles away. Rode the bike to the Shell station on Crocker Rd, filled it up and returned to the stranded vehicle. We poured the gasoline into his tank and off we went. All I asked from him was to "pay it forward". Oh--I forgot to mention that I forgot to make the obligatory ice cream stop.
One thing I learned is that I found a way to easily and securely carry a 2 gallon gasoline container on my Vespa. It fit perfectly on the floorboard between my legs and I also secured it with a bungie cord I keep on my bike, but more importantly, it felt good to help a stranger in need and it actually kind of made my day. Needless to say, it was not the first time (nor be the last) I help a person in need. If presented with the opportunity. I hope you do the same.
