Can someone help me with the problem I have with my new clutch.
I installed a new Cosa clutch in my Vespa sprint 177 Vmc and I'm struggling to get it to work. I have put the normal clutch washer with a 1mm spacer shim. When I pull the clutch in it will go into gear but when I let the clutch out it just bangs forward and stalls. If I only tighten the cable up to the pull leaver and don't manually pull the leaver round before tightening it won't even go into gear.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you try spinning the crank with the new clutch on and check clearances before putting the cover on? I think I had to grind a reinforcement in the clutch cavity maybe this is not the problem but take the plug out and give it a few kicks to see if it's an issue

A Cosa clutch requires a P200 clutch cover to work…

If I pull the clutch lever a kick it there is resistance and the engine doesn't turn over. What the difference with a P200 clutch cover?

the 200 cover has more room and doesn't foul on the clutch. it also gives the right amount of distance for the plunger to work properly.

I've already ground out my existing cover and have a cover spacer if needed. I've even tried a 2.4 spacer.

Not the appropriate clutch for your top end. . .

Did you take the clutch apart prior to installing into the engine?

I'd pull it apart and check the criticals. make sure you didn't get some pattern plates or some other bobo parts.

I've stripped the clutch and it's well oiled. Nothing appear out of the ordinary, I did see a post saying about the depth of the basket slots, mine are 20mm, is that what they should be?

The steel disks are different thicknesses. Make sure you have these in the correct order
