Just got a bill from ExpressToll in Colorado, it seems they caught me on E470 at Jordan Rd South using their toll road w/o paying like the hooligan I am. I appear to owe them $2. Sadly the bill does not include the actual camera image cuz I'd love to see who borrowed my GTS, rode to Colorado, then returned it to my garage here in Oregon without me noticing. The license plate and state are correct, they do indeed belong to my lovely Rosso red 2018 GTS touring edition. It was definitely not in Colorado

There are three easy ways to pay. They do recommend paying on time lest I incur a $5 late charge.

There is exactly one way to reach out to the E-470 Public Highway Authority and the call center is not open currently. I'm sure it involves waiting on hold for a good length of time when they -are- open because, I am certain, my call is very important to them.

Cave in and pay a wrongfully billed $2 and save some precious life moments, or stand on principle and go honey badger....choices.....

The first time I got my bill crossing the Golden Gate Bridge I was amazed at the quality of the pic from the rear. Next time I gave the bird and sure enough, clear as day! I don't mind paying to get great photos and helping for maintenance. 😉

Whatever you do, don't send your banking information to their office in Russia even if they promise not to take more than $2.00 out.

We had a toll bill for the LX over the Bay Bridge - on looking at the photo, it was a red Harley, and the ANPR software had mis-read the fuzzy photo, so they just went by the wrong license plate (an H for a 4). Phoned in, immediate answer, apols given, all good.

Here in WA state, there has been lots of toll bills sent to the wrong people. Those stupid cameras get the license plate number wrong. Luckily I don't ever drive on the toll roads here.

When you get through to them, tell them "You'll never take me alive", and start singing 'Seven Spanish Angels' into the phone.

While the OP's situation is a scam, this did happen to me in Florida. In the last week of Sept 2018, I took a vacation to South Florida. Six weeks later, on November 11 2018, they claimed that I was on a toll way near Ft Lauderdale without paying. They even had a picture of my car and license plate. So it was definitely my car they had a picture of, but I was at work in a daily meeting with 15 other people in Marietta GA at the date/time.

The entity that collects tolls couldn't care less. I presented evidence and affidavits that I was not, in fact, in FL at that time, and they told me to suck rocks and pay the fine.

I never paid the fine, I no longer have the car or plate. I could not bring myself to pay their fake ticket and perpetuate their corruption.

Not exactly Scooter related but had an interesting thing happen a little over a month ago regarding toll road billing.

We went by car from west of Syracuse NY to a little west of Albany NY on the NY State Thruway(toll road)I-90. The car has the E-Z Pay thingy in the windshield.

This was the first time in a couple years we had been on this toll road so when we got home just out of curiosity I decided to see what the charges were. As of today the only charges against our account are three charges totaling a whopping $0.61.

Just for fun today I went on the E-Z Pass site and checked to see the charge for a one way trip like that would be and it comes in as a total of $5.04. Now I'm may not the best when it comes to math these days but $5.04x2 I don't think works out to $0.61!

I had a similar issue with the State of PA a few years ago. I was sent a notice and it had a picture of someone blasting through the toll area without paying.

The picture did have a reasonably good look at the plate, but their poor computer misread one character. Of course, the rider in question was also on a large Harley Davidson with hard side bags. They didn't bother to check if the plate they identified matched the vehicle in their picture.

I wrote a letter to PA Toll authority explaining that the plate # they misread is mine, but that my Vespa could never be confused with a Harley Davidson.

I included a copy of my registration and proof that I was in Vegas on the day of the incident and could not have been at their toll booth on that day. Never heard back from them. I'm hoping my letter is framed somewhere.

That scam mentioned above is pretty scary. hoping folks are paying attention before sending any money out.

A brief googling of this toll road lead me to posts from folks having similar experiences, and having to call the # and deal with a supervisor.

What a pain in the arse to have to deal with such things.. Sorry mate that you have to deal with it.
At some point people are going to be tired of such crap & demand that govt take action/prosecute and or take back what has been outsourced etc, dunno when that will happen but there seems to be a lot of apathy around the world where honest folks feel their states are being run over by business entities that are dictating the terms like Boeing et al..
