I have a Vietnam special (groan) VBC1T 150 super with 10" wheel conversation. Having tried to change front shock I seem to have a problem. The front shock is crocked-please see attached photos. Forks are Piaggio and look like part number 991560-1.
Could these be early PX with badly welded tabs for the shock? Also looks like something was hacked off under where the mudguard sits. I'm a Vespa newbie but this looks like a hack job to me.
Any thoughts anyone?

i cannot believe i am responding to VN fork issue. . .here goes.

Remove that shitty bolt and buy the correct one. Throw that Indian damper in the trash, buy a decent one.

The "bracket" is probably fucked. you can get a replacement bracket and have it welded on correctly.

I see the dust cover is missing under the bearing race.

Now i will give you my opinion- you are throwing good money at bad. Get rid of that bike and find a decent local market bike. VN ain't worth it. what you are finding in your fork is 100% through and through your bike.

Hi Gickspeed
Thank you for the comments.
Like I say new to Vespa and the horrors of VN rebuilds, just trying to make the best of a bad lot. At that point of continue or move on, trouble is I'm just passing on problems to someone else unless I part out.

You can't and you will be into for more money than you can ever believe. . . And end of the day you will still have a shitty VN bike.

For example, did they drill out that swingarm to get the bigger bolt to fit? If so, standard will not fit. These bikes are like an onion, take off one layer and you just get to the next.

Man, the lengths they go even for a freaking cheap ass shock bolt. I wouldn't trust my life on that fork. Something's fishy with that tube…

Thank you guys for the advice.
I totally agree about forks, I'm very suspicious.
Time to move on.
