I have ridden in every Vespa Club del Mediterraneo rally since Tuscany in 2016.
The club started long before that and the rallies were all in southern Europe.
That changed a year ago when several members of the group went to New Orleans for the Crescent City Crawl, repeated this year.
My wife and I enjoy Western North Carolina very much, with its wonderful mountain roads, so I suggested a club ride centered around Asheville.
We had eleven riders at the peak and three days of riding.
Thursday we rode to the northeast through Burnsville to Little Switzerland for lunch, then down the Blue Ridge Parkway back to Asheville with a stop at Mt. Mitchell.
Friday we had rain and three riders rode 70 miles up around Marshall and Weaverville.
Saturday we rode to Hot Springs, down 209 to Waynesville for lunch. My Vespa GT, Vanessa, was running poorly so I headed straight back to Asheville while the others picked up the BRP for a longer ride back.
Most of us had dinners together at some of downtown Asheville's great restaurants and I think everyone had fun.
Next stop, Croatia.
