Hi. Anyone here have experience with the add-on rubber floor mat for the current-gen Liberty? Is it much nicer/less slippery with the mat than without? Thanks!

Much debate on this forum about rubber mats. One faction reports that moisture under the mat causes the scoot to rust. I really like mine on the GTS300 Vespa Super.

I did have slight corrosion, sanded it out and spot painted. I now lift the mat off after riding. I like the way it looks and believe it keeps the fllor of the scoot from being scratched up.

Thanks! I saw some of the chat for vespas, but on the liberty the starting point/stock is already a black plastic floor so perhaps there is less downside to adding a mat. Also perhaps there is less need/upside lol.

They are very popular in places where people commute on their scooters year round and it gets muddy or slushy during part of the year.

It's not moisture that is the biggest problem -- almost everything below the floor mat is plastic. The much bigger problem is dirt between the mat and the the painted surface, which will rub the paint right off over time.

I'd not want anything under my boot which might catch it, even momentarily - as I slide my feet off at stops.
