Good morning, all. I got my BV back yesterday after months of it being at the shop (August 16th, but who's counting?). They replaced the brakes and when I checked it out the right hand lever seemed to have much more play in it than the left. When I bought the bike, both levers were pretty taut, and I didn't have to squeeze them too far to get the bike to slow/stop. The right one has way more play than the left. Is this an easy fix I can deal with on my own or no? Also, is this something wrong?

TIA

Try wrapping the brake lever closed for overnight. That will sometimes work to tighten up a brake

Right is the front brake, correct? Perhaps it wasn't bled properly.
It's not a difficult job, usually, but if that's the case it shouldn't have left the shop that way.

Correct. Yeah, I think they didn't change the brake pad. I'm checking the receipt now.

not that it helps with your question, but why were the brakes replaced? Also does replaced mean: the calliper, the pads, the hoses, the master cylinder, the levers, the abs? There's a lot in a brake system ...

Update: I asked them to check the brakes, replace if necessary. They flushed them. The measurement on the brakes were reported back to me. Rear brake has less give than the front (what I mean is the lever I pull doesn't have to move much before it stops). The right (front) brake has a lot more give; and in news that will surprise not many of you, the brake pad is worn down more on that side.

There's a guy two blocks over with a bike or two; I think he does a bit of work on them himself. I'm going to ask if he'd be able to show me how to replace my brake pads myself. I'd hate to lose the bike to the shop for another 1.5 mos or some nonsense during the riding season, for something I may be able to do myself.

-Thanks for all the advice.

Update: They did another brake flush (I was told they looked at my brake pads and I have a ton of padding left), and that seems to have corrected the issue. Brakes feel nice and taut and much more "even." Thanks, everyone.
