Hi, it's me again β€” this time my center stand arm broke and I'm mid-replacement. I got the broken stand off, now I'm having a hell of a time getting the new one to sit right in order to get the bolts in.

I tried finding a video or something, to no avail. Is there a trick to it? Does the exhaust have to come off for replacement (I'm hoping not)?

Thank you! 😊

First two things I'd check..

1. Was the correct replacement sent to you? Have you compared side-by-side?

2. Was the mounting point on the bike bent or damaged in any way which is preventing lineup?

Maybe a photo of the misalignment?

Or is it just that the you do not have clearance to slide the bolt in?

Hi, thank you so much for the quick reply! I'm scouring videos and the internet trying to find someone actually attaching the stand to the bike. πŸ˜†

I had the thought that maybe I had the wrong stand, but side-by-side, they're the same.

I'm almost positive nothing was bent out of shape, as it was a relatively painless process. I'd expected completely seized bolts, but happily, no issue there. Once those were off, I gave the broken stand a gentle wiggle and it came right off.

I'm having trouble getting the rear bolt holes to line up. The front ones, fine, but the legs/arm of the stand are butting against the frame or wheel, depending on position.

I have it on a stand, not a lift, so maybe I should take the scooter off and lean it against something so I can try to attach the stand while it's engaged. Right now, I'm trying to fit it on there while it's collapsed.

Thank you again! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜Š

are you trying to put it on with the springs attached? because if so, that will lead to a whole bunch of frustration and new curse words.

Uh oh. πŸ˜… Yeah, I was trying to do a 1-to-1 replacement! I hadn't read anything about removing the springs.

Gotta find some pennies, it seems. Thanks so much. ☺️

The spring is too tight to get enough pennies in, what do? 😭

Is it feasible to lean the scoot against something and install while the stand is down (engaged)?

yeah you can lean it up against something.

it's been a bit since I've done one, I remember it being more of a pain in the ass than I thought it needed to be but not much else than that.

I tried leaning it, had it almost on its side (being mindful of fluids), and the angle is still no good.

Looks like I have to work on getting the springs off! πŸ₯Έ

I took the one of my et2, cleaned and sprayed it and put it back on.
I don't remember it being that difficult. I think I jammed a handle of a screwdriver in the way of it fully going up.
When it's fitted put it down and the screwdriver falls out.
I definitely didn't take the springs off to fit it though.

This was the answer and I truly cannot thank you enough!! I owe you a beer/beverage of your choice! πŸ₯³ 🫢

I do like knowing how to work on my bike, but MAN, it's just been an endless string of problems and a painfully stiff learning curve. πŸ˜…
