I was wondering how I might be able to repair my crashed Vespa GTS 250. A couple days ago I got hit by a garage truck which hit my mirror which caused the scooter to wobble then lose balance and slide underneath me on it's left side. And the Vespa slid for a couple of feet with me sliding much less. I have already submitted a claim and I am currently waiting for feedback but in the meantime I was wondering if you guys might be able to help me determine what might be wrong so after the claim goes through then I can possibly fix it.
The main things that I am worried about is the wheel and handles not being aligned as well as oil that leaked through the air box but apparently that's normal if your scooter gets knocked over. Is there any major things I may need to worry about or anyway that I might go about fixing this?

Given the age of the scooter and the substantial damage to the metal body, I'd guess that most insurance estimators would regard this as a total and offer a payoff.

^Agreed. I'd start looking for a replacement Vespa. I've seen scooters with less damage be totaled out.

It's crazy how easily vehicles are totaled when fixing is usually not that complicated. As the modern Vespa goes, the frame is all welded together, so I guess a fall can tweak the frame even if the tunnel - where the real strength lies - is untouched? The older ones are so much easier to straighten out and parts are plentiful. But this happens to motorcycles too. My son's friend dropped his Ninja 650 in a parking lot going less than a walking pace. You guessed it - his insurance totaled the bike for less than $300 in parts needed to refurbish it like new.

The handle bar issue is easy fixed, turn the bar to the opposite side against the stop turn back 1/4 of a turn off the stop and slam it against the stop it will come back or dismantle the headset and loosen the bolt then realign. to replace the chrome strip you have to remove the glove box and floor about a 20min job. The front guard you have to remove the front fork or just use filler and repaint.
the rear is a engine removal and tap out from behind and paint. not hard jobs just time consuming. Depends on your location it maybe cheaper to sell it and buy new.
