If it's anything like the previous gen MP3, then it is nust a matter of removing the mirrors, the center cover, and all of the different length screws that hold the upper and lower halves of the cover together

There only appears to be 2 screws holding the top and bottom halves together , one on the left and one on the right, but removing these does not release the two halves. There are obviously additional clips but I have no idea where they are and I don't want to risk snapping them

Hello. I don't know how similar the 530 is to my 2016 500…but it looks like it could be very similar. Before I get into the process my first question to you would be why exactly you want to get into this area. I only ask because I had specific reasons to do it and found my efforts a waste of time. I wanted to be able to fine tune my hand positioning on my scooter as you can on virtually every other motorcycle /scooter I've ever seen. This is one of the 3 places our anatomy interacts with our ride and should be something that an individual is able to adjust to his her liking for comfort and safety.
Mr. Piaggio created a great vehicle concept with very poor considerations for individual riders. I have the very expensive gel seat with a bead rider on it…so the butt interface is now fine for me but it sounds like the stock seat was not good at all. The foot/leg area is terrible for a scooter…cramped even for me at 5'9" and handled so much better on so many scooters…and finally the handlebar/grip area. Basically we get no adjustability here where normally you have handle rotational ability (at a minimum) along with brake lever rotatability as well as some degree to move the brake lever at least slightly inward. Seemingly these things could have all been handled soooo much better and if I get to to ever see a Tricity or cv3 this will be my very first area of interest. Ok…to your problem. Gently pry up lower front of the central disc on handle bar cover. Once removed…remove 3 visible screws. Spin off mirrors using a deep well socket. Gently pry with a plastic body tool along the back edge seam of the top/bottom cover interface all the way around. Gently…you're just separating, the top can't be removed yet. Now…beside the hole where the mirror nut was accessed you'll find another very deeply inset screw. Difficult to see into and mine had not been reinstalled by the previous owner and seem totally unnecessary for secure installation. But if they're there they need to be removed. Next, remove the screw on the lower backside of control switch boxes on each side just inside the grips…on the right this is the assembly with the starter button…on the left the piece with your turn signal /horn. This pieces sort of clamshells and pinches the two halves of the handlebar cover together. Once gently separated and removed you'll see screws revealed that screw the top half of the cover in place. Remove. Voila…you're in. Now…why did you want to be in here. What I wasn't able to pretty much just pissed me off and had me wondering why I'd wasted my time. |

Thanks for your reply. The reason I want to get in there is place a small prize electric sounder that will bleep in time with the indicators as I am regularly leaving them n in spite of the visual warning on the dashboard.
Unfortunately the 500 is different to the 530 as there is no central disc and all I can see is a screw fitted under the cover on each side to hold the top and bottom together. There must be more than that and I don't want to start prying the two parts open in case I snap the clips |

Widge wrote: there is no reference to removing the covers 2023 Mp3 530 Service Manual On page 272 there is a section called front handlebar fairing. Im summary, remove both mirrors, then remove the two screws underneath the handlebar cover, near the nuts you just removed to take off the mirrors. You then need to lift the top section off, its held in by some clips so should pop off with a small amount of force. |

Thanks, you have given me the confirmation i was looking for that i can just pull them off without risking snapping the clips. I have now managed to get the covers off. Thanks again for this,

I have the same issue with the turn signal- the indicator light is out of my normal field of vision- Anyone have another solution? I told my riding pal, evertime I leave it on if you catch me I will give you a buck.

Problem is that now I have got the cover off I cannot identify which wires go to the indicators. I have had the top off the switch but I can't identify the correct wires as everything is so crammed into the space
