What parts to start with and where? Is there an online wiring diagram. I removed the "pods" and was thinking of the harness to relocate to European style. Is there a flasher as well as the switch that might be causing this?

here's the link for the manuals

https://manuals.wotmeworry.org.uk/Vespa/

check the basics first: switch and connections, fuses.

if not there, check the battery voltage. a failing voltage regulator will cause intermittent or a failure on the signals.

Actually, I believe its the CDI that does the signalling.

This is located behind the glovebox on the left-hand side.

You need to dismantle the headset a bit to get to the switch to test it. If the switch measures OK, then it's the CDI. This is expensive - but there's a far cheaper solution. You can purchase a two-prong turn signal relay designed for other models. Cut the wire going to the switch from the CDI, connect that to the output of the relay, with +12V from the ignition switch going to the input side of the relay.

correct. however a bad regulator will cause wonky, intermittent signals.

if there's no signals and all the wiring/switches are on the up and up, then I'd suspect CDI. it's rare, but it does happen.

I've found about 2/3 the time it's just the switch or a connection.
