Hi all, I crashed my 2007 250 the other day and it slid engine first into a curb resulting in a cracked engine case. Facepalm emoticon Lost all the coolant and oil. I am looking for a replacement engine, or engine case so I can swap it into the scooter and get it back on the road. I am having a heck of a time finding a 250 engine. Any insight as to where I can source one from? I'm in Southern California if that helps. Thanks!

Maybe it can be welded I've seen it done in the past, a good welder can weld cast aluminum, oil pan is easily replaced if it's cracked.

Two places : crashedtoys.com, ebay. I just looked and neither has an engine ( or a crashed scooter with engine intact) right now, but give it time.

The right guy could TIG weld (Heliarc) that in place. Of course, you would have to get the oil pan out of the way. And find the right guy. But it may be a lot easier than replacing a whole engine.

Thank you all for the leads. I will check out the sites mentioned, and I may even take the advice to pull it apart and weld it up to get it back on the road. Thanks for the ideas!

Hey Daniel...bummer. Sorry to here that. I have an 2007 GTS engine, but it is attached to the rest of the scooter.
If you're interested in a whole new rig, hit me up.
I'm in SoCal as well.

Thank you, I decided to just part it out... It's gonna be much more expensive to fix than what the thing is worth at this point. I'm bummed, but thankfully we have two other Vespa's we can ride still.

If the missing chunk from the oil sump is all that's damaged on the engine (plus presumably the sump cover) - then that's easily fixed. It's not under any stress or pressure, it just has to be oil-tight. I bet even JB-weld could sort that out!

Unfortunately it's more than just the cover that's damaged. The case inside the cover is also pushed in and broke the post for one of the bolts.

Ah - that'd be beyond easy patching.

I tried replacing my 250 with a 300 engine but the wiring loom is different so I managed to get a 250 engine from sloten recovery .
