Hi friends!

My 2003 gt 125 L is leaking a bit of oil. It seems to come from the head cover.

Tried to torque it a bit more but had a hard time reaching those bolts. Any tips on this? And is tightening the right solution for this leak?

Re tightening, overtightening Is not the answer and probably make the situation worse as all bolts have to be torqued up equally and under the same tension.

The engine needs to be dropped, cover removed cleaned, new gasket, replaced and torqued to correct setting.

Also need to be finding out why its leaked (has it warped).

If you are not spanner handy you need to take it to a repairers, if you do it and it go's wrong again you have the job to do again, take it to a repairers you are covered 😉👍.

Thanks buggy's. Is this something common at this age? From looking at it, it does not look warped. But I'll be able to tell after dropping it.

It is 21 years old.
If the leak is confirmed to be at the head cover gasket, that is not a big deal to repair.

Gaskets get old and hard, then they leak. Tilt the engine up as when you are doing a valve clearance adjustment. Then it's a piece of cake to replace.

Thanks all, dropped the engine and replaced the gasket. It's dry for a couple of weeks now so all is good.

Did you check the valve clearance while the cover was off?
