In a GTS? No way! You want a CCA of at least 120A, preferably 160A or more.

These days I recommend LiFePO4 batteries anyway - they'll last the life of the bike, and don't need winter maintenance.

This looks like a good one (there are many these days):
https://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Max-Battery-YTX12-BSLIFEPO4-Phosphate/dp/B07K317R8S

Yes it costs more than the one you linked to - but that one wouldn't play nicely with your GTS anyway.

Thanks for the link!
The battery you linked should be Ok in hot climates too, right? I'm all the way down in Miami.

The link I sent - I had that battery running in my vespa for over 2 years already, and just recently started experienced starter problems.
Thank you.

It should be fine. From:
https://ecotreelithium.co.uk/news/lithium-iron-phosphate-battery-operating-temperature-range/
Quote:
What is LiFePO4 Operating Temperature Range?
LiFePO4 batteries can typically operate within a temperature range of -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F), but optimal performance is achieved between 0°C and 45°C (32°F and 113°F).

It is essential to maintain the battery within its recommended temperature range to ensure optimal performance, safety, and longevity.
They can be used all over the world - but Antarctica might be iffy.

I'm surprised it lasted for two years!

Jim, do these batteries require a trickle charger over the winter? If so, I assume a Battery Tender Jr. would not work.

No, they do not. The self-discharge is miniscule. However, if wished, a B.T.J. would do no harm just hanging on in there at 13.6V (the fully charged resting voltage).

These are not the NMC (nickel, manganese, copper) Lithium-ion batteries that are used in so many other situations - many EVs, electric scooters etc. They are self-extinguishing if set on fire. Just better all round.

Those are probably the best low maintenance lead-acid batteries you can get. However in hot climates they self-discharge quicker than 'normal', so either use the scooter regularly, or keep an eye on the level of charge.

They were my 'best of breed' choice before LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries came on the scene at comparable prices. Now I'd plump for an LFP every time in the scooters, having had a couple of year's experience with a home build 300Ah LFP house battery in our camper van.

Example - a new Motobatt in Mrs jimc's LX190 struggled to start the LX. Voltage dropped to 11V at the battery, and 9.5V at the starter. The LFP that replaced it stays above 13V when starting, and there's 11.5V at the starter which gets the LX starting immediately.

Agreed - but at four times the price, and the generic ones set to last the life of the scoot anyway, so what? Some of us have pretty tight budgets.

well its low cost for a reason.

good luck getting ANY warranty out of it if you have issues.

the only pro is it is light weight.

It only has a 1 year warranty. What are the chances of it crapping out under that time.

I'm not really worried about the warranty.
I'm mostly concerned about it being a battery that is healthy for my Vespa and recommended for it.
Got stuck twice this month in high heat climate not knowing that my battery was not a good match for the scooter
