Yourban 2014 300cc.
Malossi Multivar with 16 gr rollers, Piaggio CVT belt, Malossi Delta Clutch and bell, with the white big contra spring and Malossi yellow torsion controller on the pulley side of the clutch. Had the belt rubbing (see picture) leaving a mark in the length of the belt Facepalm emoticon Added an extra 1mm washer (fuzzy washer) between the variator.
Had an other Piaggio belt rubbing using the same setup with dr pulley sliders. I understand that sliders don't match with the Malossi multivar. Therefore I now use the Malossi 16 gr rollers. With the dr pulley sliders I had more rubbing at the same spot.
It seems odd to me that with a setup compatible with my scoot I have belt rubbing. Will be testing the coming days to see if the extra washer solves the rubbing.

Anyone with a 300cc Vespa/Piaggio had there belt rubbing and had to use an extra washer?

its not the weight of the sliders its the shape and how they work in the vari that causes the belt to rub.

Thanksfor your reply.

You mean the shape of the dr pulley sliders?
If so, i removed them and now use malossi 16 gr rollers. I've concluded that DP don't go together with malossi.

I had to add a 1mm washer using Dr Pulley sliders on our 300's - and that was with OEM variators.

Went through a couple of oil sump gaskets before I twigged the solution.

The wider the belt goes at the front, the more top speed you have.

Aftermarket variators all tend to push the belt a lot closer to the case in order to increase your top speed.

Are you using the standard Piaggio belt or the one for the HPE?

The standard. The standard belt is more expensive than the HPE belt. Therefore I think they are different.
Do you advice using one instead of the other and why?

There's also the Malossi belt, that's probably been designed around this variator

My understanding is best to use the standard Piaggio CVT-belt instead of the Malossi because of durability and fitment. I could be wrong.
