Please forgive the f***b**k reference.
I simply found this amusing, in context.

For those who might not quite grasp why this is relevant here on Modern Vespa, disemvoweling is more commonly used as a moderation tool -- to neutralize the impact of someone being really shitty without actually deleting their post.

I got the idea from BoingBoing (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disemvoweling ) but added the novel element of automatically disemvoweling based on post karma. When a post receives too many negative ratings ("thumb downs") then the post will automatically display as disemvoweled.

And here's an obscure tidbit: when it happens on Modern Vespa, the original post is actually untouched in the database. Only the displayed text is modified.

I shouldn't admit it, but when I pop open a thread to follow up and see someone (not surprisingly) get disemvoweled, it brings out grade school memories where the class miscreant triggers the dropping of the hammer by a teacher who's had too much of their sht.

It's also a nice intellectual exercise trying to figure out the puzzle. Razz emoticon

I recently read something about the key letters in a written paragraph are bold and this makes it easier to read.

Here is a link for those that are curious.

Maybe Jess could make so that highly upvoted comments are emboldened as such?
Sheesh, I hope not! Having read through that, their example at the end was a nightmare to read. Plus it looks shitty.

Regardless one of the funniest things I ever read was a comment on a post that was obviously headed that way..."in a little while that's going to be really hard to read..."
It was already!

The sample worked for me. I wonder if it's got to do with my German-wired brain.

They are recycled and then donated to some of the more impoverished words in Wales.

I can't even go on.

When we were teaching my son to read (Down Syndrome) we learned a lot about phonics and words and reading in general. Everyone knows you don't read the letters in words; you read whole words and even groups of words. We had multiple lists for C to read that were just "sight words". He was much more proficient after mastering lists of commonly used words.

It's too bad English is such a hodgepodge when it comes to spelling and trying to make sense of phonics. It's hard explaining words like "enough" or "knife".
