For a friend's MP3 Yourban, year 2016, the sensor that indicates the Tilt Lock limit switches is damaged. We know it is this part exactly because we put the one from my MP3 500 in it and everything started working fine.

The problem is that in all parts catalogs I can find only shows the complete kit with gears, bases, etc. (more than 550 EUR) part number 6425555 or 1R000114, but I only need the sensor that I attached the images.

It seems absurd to me to have to buy everything when only this sensor is bad, but there is no way to get the part number just for it or the same one that another motorcycle/car uses (for example, the crankshaft sensor of the Piaggio X9 <2008 is the same sensor from some Daewoo cars.

Any help is very appreciated, regards

Perhaps it's just the wiring that's broken, not the sensor itself? And if the sensor, what sort is it? Hall effect, reed switch, what? I'm sure whatever is inside is a $0.50 standard electronic industry part. Get your sharp knife out!

We check the wires between both ends and have continuity about open sounds not the more easy knife session

I don't think Piaggio sells that sensor by itself.

Probably best to try the various eBay sites, particularly the French site since most MP3s were sold there

We did just that, but there are only used ones and the risk of this being bad is high, especially when they ask for close to USD $100 + shipping

What does it detect - a piece of ferrous metal, a magnet, what? If you can spot *how* it works, you can easily replace it with something similar enough to work.

You've got 2 options here.

Take a $100 gamble on a used part and hope it works

Or

Pay near $600 for a new assembly

Even if the used donor part was bad and you had to pay another $100 you'll still be way ahead financially

This is part of the gamble when owning a oddball machine that is merely a blip on the radar of the motorcycle world

If this was a Honda you could probably locate the part with minimal effort or risk

To be honest, no idea, for me looks very similar to a ABS sensor but with 3 cables Facepalm emoticon

That's wasn't the question - what's on the the tilt-lock that comes near that sensor for it to become a signal to be acted on? I'm just trying to work out if it's a Hall effect sensor, or a magnetic field sensor. 'Cos once you know, it'll cost less than $10 (mostly shipping) to get a part to you.

However, I bet it's just a broken wire connection to it. Get a drill, whatever, open the old one up - it doesn't work anyway.

Only way to mend things is to not be shy of taking things apart!
