I just acquired a 1958 Allstate with a replacement engine, supposedly an LML. How do i find the serial number to positively identify the engine? Pls ignore the bogus kicker. I have to figure out the right replacement. the bike is very clean for its age. tank is clean and dry. i know i have to bu 12v lights for it as it is now 12v.

thanks.

Motor appears to be LML w/ the distinctive hump in the fan cover unique to LMLs, but the cylinder cover may be from an older Vespa - all those I've ever seen are plastic like newer Vespas.

Your motor serial number should be stamped on the swingarm just behind main pivot bolt, same place as on Vespas.

I assume you are looking for older style curved kickstart lever to match your older frame? You'll need this special one with the splines offset to match your newer motor. https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/kickstart-lever-sip-vbb-style_751222PO?usrc=kickstart%20lever%20px

So is the motor converted to 8" wheels, or are you 10" in back & 8" in front? I also have a '58 AllState with a Bajaj motor now in it converted from 10" to 8". Also a 125Super w/ LML 10" motor which I converted the front to 10". I like front & back to be the same size!

Love that paint, just prep & rattlecan the cowls the closest blue you can find. Done!
Bajaj power w/ 3rd port cut & budget 3 port 177 top end. Geared for 10s so now it gets up to maybe only 50 screaming for mercy but REALLY quick!

Thanks everyone! I just ordered that kicker.

On another note, I want to run the correct mix of oil and gas

What should I use on this bike with the LML engine and what mix percentage?

Thanks!

Run a quality 100% synthetic two stroke oil (e.g. Motul 710) and mix it 2%.

You should put a hose clamp on the fuel line sooner than later, too, before it starts leaking.

and welcome!

btw that kind of fuel line shrinks and hardens pretty quickly with any ethanol. just a warning - think about replacing it with regular 5/16" fuel line (24" long) from your local auto parts joint.

Voodoo mentions a rattle can touch up. Does anyone know what the primary color is currently? Is it Turkis? If so how can I get a can of that in spray paint? Any car colors that are close? And yes I plan to redo the fuel lines once I get it sorted mechanically. Ordered the correct kicker from SIP last night. The one on there is awful and totally wrong.
Thanks.

And when you recommend Motul 710, you are talking about the 2 STROKE Versus the PREMIX oil?

Please advise thanks!

Got it
I have that already for my P200. For some reason I was under the impression there was 2 stroke oil and a separate premix injection oil.
Thanks!

There are. Products such as Castrol A747 ( smells like Castrol R) is a pre mix only. This is because they are Ester based not synthetic. If you ran A747 through a pump injector system it would be too viscous so would block the lines and lead to a sieze.

So the Castrol two stroke oil is either the 2T Scooter specific or Power1 or Power racing.

LML engines were geared for scooters with 10" wheels. Unless the gears were changed, the shift points will feel odd - the scoot will be rideable but won't achieve the top speed it normally would with 8" gearing.

You'd be fine using either the Motul or Amsoil.

I understand. it also feels like there are 4 gears. was the LML a 4 speed as opposed to the original 125 3 speed?
