Turned 80K today on my bought brand new GTS250.

Technically its a 300 now as the original engine was replaced at 74K miles. Body, electronics and yes the original fuel pump are still going strong.

Was only back at the dealer once for the 600 mile service, all other maintenance performed by me.

Over the years I have performed many oil changes, tire swaps, belts, shocks, (1) clutch, did the motor swap, repaired the sketchy ass wiring harness, etc.

Dropped it twice if you can call it that, once backing into it with my car and once lost balance taking it off the center stand.

Anyhow will report back at 100K

I am at two years and 10,500. The first few thousand were pretty bad due to Fuel Pump replacements (I had two) but it's been perfect once I ironed out the kinks. Warrantee.

Basically wore out the old motor. I was'nt exactly easy on it during those 74K miles, even though performing above and beyond maintenance.

Greasy (Vespa Mechanic Extraordinaire) did a teardown and found cracking between the valves. While he could have worked it, for less money I was able to pick up a low mile 300 engine from a member here.

Very impressive!

What happened to the previous engine? Was it just a bit tired or did something fail?

Impressive. I thought I had a lot of miles on my Burgman 400 at 48K. My lower miles are a result of mostly recreational riding. I deemed back and forth to work (round trip 46 miles) just to dangerous on the freeway with all the lane changing morons.

Good on you.

It makes me happy to see people ride their scooters.

80,000 miles is a lot.

Keep it up and you might catch Rocket one of these days.

108,000 at the moment, but it still gets ridden regularly.

Thanks for the info, 74k miles of flogging is pretty good for a scooter motor ROFL emoticon

Wow impressive, but you have an advantage. Everything is straight and flat in Florida so less strain on the motor, LOL! ROFL emoticon

IIRC it was one or more hairlines between the valves plus a bad head gasket, oil mixed with coolant though it had not overheated. Tried to give the bottom end away but there were no takers so I scrapped it.

Wow 5 k on the 300 engine. Do you think the 250 fuel injector system adjusted to the larger engine? Any other issues since the swap?

Not sure if the 250 ECU adjusted or just works? I may be leaving some power on the table but were talking about a ~30cc difference.

Up to 7K miles on the 300 and it hasnt burned a drop of oil/
