Was using Rec 90 fuel in all my bikes, but our local gas station stopped caring it. Since moving to Ethanol the my GTS 300 seems to have lost some power.
I'm thinking of running a cleaner before having to remove the injector for cleaning, after reading older posts still not sure which one to use.
Thanks

I have had good results using the Techron cleaner, many claim that you should change the oil after using it....

going from regular 100% gas to 10% added ethanol you did lose energy.

you lost 10%
your gas mileage suffered as well about 10% less.

It's getting harder to find Rec90. Can't imagine what will happen when they adopt 15% ethanol.

Actually, with a 10% ethanol mix with gasoline (what we in the US call E10) he lost about 2164 BTUs/gallon compared to pure gasoline, which is roughly a 1.9% energy loss.

Pure gasoline: 114000 BTUs/gallon
E10 (10% ethanol): 111836 BTUs/gallon

You could probably lose 1.9% just by having your tires underinflated.

However, it is still wiser on older vehicles to stick with 100% pure gasoline, if only to prevent the seals and gaskets from eroding that are not ethanol resistant.

The 2nd reply on this thread is interesting:
https://www.fordmods.com/ecu-fuel-system-eec-f21/e10-fuel-t118665.html
"slightly reduced fuel economy (maybe 2%), and slightly increased power/torque (maybe 1%)"

This is supported by some modified performance cars being setup for E85 to get more power albeit by using more litres

I think either the Lucas or Techron will be just fine to use.

To muddy the waters, I've had good results with Seafoam. I've used this in cars, boats, scooters, lawnmowers, etc...

I've had good results from Techtron BUT I have zero experience with Lucas. I personally don't care for Seafoam of Marvel Mystery Oil.

I'm going to buy some Techron today, was thinking of adding 2.5 Oz and then going for a long ride. Hopefully that does the trick.
Thanks everybody for the feedback.

Techron works for me. Ive really only needed it after buying some no-name gas at a funky discount station, where the fuel is apt to be stale, a mixture of remnant loads from a tanker the end of a delivery run, stored in a bad tank, or all three. Unless you are getting a lot of blowby, with modern gasoline you rarely need a solvent, but it's not going to hurt anything.

Thank you for an explanation that might finally sink in to people who read the banner that says they can get up to 20% better MPG with ethanol free gas.
There's a station around me that has ethanol free gas for about 50 cents more than regular E10. I was getting gas late at night and not paying attention and ended up filling my car with it. My car, like most modern cars, has the function that tells you approximate MPG. I do get better gas mileage with ethanol free gas. It's about 1.3-1.8 mpg better. So if it takes 14 gallons, that's seven dollars more for an additional 21 or so miles per tank, or $3 a mile for those extra miles. That doesn't seem like much of a deal.

Do you have fuels that contain the cleaners already?

In the UK, all our premium fuels (BP Ultimate, Shell V power etc) all contain high numbers of cleaners.

At Goodwood festival of Speed a few years ago, they had a V8 where they'd run half the engine on BP Ultimate, and half on regular unleaded, and the BP Ultimate side looked brand new.

EDIT: There's also people who offer injector cleaning as a service, with before and after test results. This one is UK based, but hopefully there's a similar service stateside? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145128709344?itmmeta=01HZA1B3WG8VZK00BES1ST3DHQ&hash=item21ca585ce0:g:eOQAAOSwxpdkgvxp&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4D9lWTdUzRKddt3dBQR5zoWKiihGDepOXKKXy0F%2FsyiP0KZ8zUQJMmrWG0BPhe9RuUyxpsmV8jWIgKmmQOR8ZPpkTUueKU5K5JWCuNpXjMwP32kIWhb%2Bx5zUDMN1YB7o0MvVIqR5aM2dVH00zz67MrIw6kIXgeVzKbnh%2BcoJj6Px0gg7sDC6CdDegULV4ui6NlX4Vi8QHSFBAV2LY6oYfBC3NI94OBPSWYpy7TGg23kbfLgMQWT7OxYY%2BDhwV4MWe4KL0ePDBn0nSy7611F8OxjyVlaPwRm7CkXhSdwnacSc%7Ctkp%3ABFBMrr6swfpj

For good reasons: Seafoam was made for older 2 stroke marines engines and consists of pale oil, naphtha and alcohol - none are really good to dump into a four stroke machine, unless you like to burn oil. MMO is just another light oil with a few additives. Again nothing special. Techron actually works and it's already in the gasoline if you buy that brand. The alcohol in the the gasoline actually works as well. Fill up you scoot with high test and go for a ride, you're good.

Yes, we do. But some people like the idea of a mechanic in a can, so Chevron sells the same additive for a whole lot of money.
