Hey there, My 2009 MP3 250 is my daily ride, and I love it! However when I take my wife with me. by the end of the ride theres a very loud rattle and a slight shake between 2500-4000 RPMS that comes from the back of the bike when I take off from a stop. Mostly happens when there has been a lot of stop signs or red lights along the ride. No noises for the first 20 minutes then the sound gets really loud each time we have to full stop and start again (if I don't let the RPMs hit 0 there is no sound). We are not small people but together come in well under the weight limit of the bike. Any ideas of what it could be would be appreciated seeing as I can't get the dang thing to replicate the problem when I take it to the shop. My guy roughed up the clutch last time and that seemed to help for a minute but that could have just been me being super careful while riding it.
Sounds like clutch chatter - glazed clutch pads. Too gentle take-offs from a stop will only re-glaze the pads on my scooters.
Throttle application from stops needs to be brisk - but not stupid - for mine to continue to avoid the clutch pad glazing and chatter.
Thanks so much everyone, I'm trying to do harder take offs from stops and it seems to be helping a lot. I'm guessing I was just being too soft on the throttle. Next time I take it in I will circle back to this thread and ask if any of the issues mentioned could be a part of it.
