I've been trying to get insurance for my Vespa LX 125. Last year it was £550 odd as I've had a couple of dings in 2021, 2022 in my car. This year, after searching for a week, when many wouldn't insure me, the best quote I could get was £948 from Lexham. However, after more searching this morning I've got full cover from www.bennetts.co.uk for £579!!! I was looking at not insuring my bike this year, but now I'm covered!!! Thank god for Bennetts!

I think insurance quotes are one of lifes mysteries!
Opposite for me though, Bennetts quoted me £1000+ for this year. As a tight Yorkshireman, I did go through Topcashback to get an extra £20 back. |

Bennetts don't cover you for theft between I think 10pm and 6am unless your Vespa is in the specific place that you state it will be (in my case a garage at my residence).
I think that's one of the ways they're able to offer cheaper insurance quotes - but means you take more of the responsibility for security. |

I take it all back!!! Bennetts have just emailed me and there was confusion when I was filling out the form and apparently they will now not insure me!! I had 2 dings in my car, 1 in 10/2021 and 1 in 4/2022. I was insured last year with these on my record for £550. But now I cant get insured for less that £950+!!! Insane.
Does anyone want to buy a 2010 Vespa with 4k on the clock?? |

As an insurance agent in the USA, I am fascinated with your insurance in the UK. It seems from posted info that there are many exceptions and rules. I have never heard of a two wheeled vehicle coverage that suspends coverage at night unless the vehicle is securely stored.
I can understand that your premium prices might be high if you have a number of Claims/Driving Violations in recent years. Also, could it be that your scooter theft is so bad - everyones rates are sky high? Our Motorcycle/Scooter policies are one year at a time. For full coverage, Liability, Medical, Physical Damage to the scoot ($250 Deductible for Physical Damage Coverages) I pay $179 anually for my Vespa GTS300 Super and $269 for my Kymco 550. Obviously, if someone bumps me, I collect directly from their policy. Good luck finding coverage. Bob Copeland Hey, group ride into SW Wisconsin tomorrow. ![]() Just another day at the insurance agency.

I must either be lucky... or else South Africa has less of a 'rip-off' mentality in the insurance sector.
All six vehicles belonging to my wife and I are comprehensively insured under a single policy. Our premium is risk-based on the vehicle itself, where we reside and what security measures we have in place at our residence. Both of us being over 55 years of age, we have a zero deductible on the first claim per vehicle per year. However, there is a deductible applicable if any vehicle is parked overnight away from that residence, or if it is driven by a licensed person other than me or my wife. PS: Most vehicle insurance policies here are ultimately underwritten by one of two large insurance companies. |
