Greetings!
I picked up a GTS 250ie a couple days ago with 18k miles on it, my first Vespa. There was some documentation of a major service a couple thousand miles ago with new belt and valve adjustment, so I am going just going to replace fluids for now as a way to become acquainted with the bike. BTW my only other scooter was a Yamaha Xmax 300 for a year, fantastic machine btw,
however I have had many motorcycles.
Their is a slight clunk up front on potholes, I swung buy the local dealer for an oil filter and they were kind enough to wiggle the front end around and did not seem to thing the headshell bearings needed replacement. While I may get a new shock I am first going to check the damping on the original and get new bushings. Meanwhile I am awaiting new City Grip 2 tires, the current tires are 13 years old and have dry rot cracks.
-Are there different spring rates available for the stock shock if I want a stiffer spring? And does the stock front shock tend to wear out at any particular mileage?
-Should I replace wheel bearings based solely on the mileage, I am pulling the wheels to mount the new tires so...
Thanks...
