Modern Vespa

Good evening everyone, well it is here!
I joined this forum at the weekend and thought I'd say Hi. Got my Vespa back in September and have only really used it to commute so far. I'm looking forward to using it this summer, I'm told summer will be on a Tuesday this year! (British weather joke) Anyway I hope to be able to contribute in a positive way from time to time in what looks like a really great forum.

Hi Tierney, yes, it's about 30 miles up the road from me, I'm in Plymouth. Paignton has bike nights on a Wednesday through out the summer on the sea front, great evening, hundreds of bikes, all shapes and sizes.

My bike is named Mike the Bike after Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. Does anyone else name there bikes or is it just me?

Welcome, Simcha. My family originally came to the colonies from near Paignton-Brixham, a tiny village called Churston Ferrers. I've never made it back to visit, but hope to one day. It looks like a delightful area.

We have similar weather patterns here in the Upper Left Corner of the country, a moderately warm rain-free day being a rarity. I definitely feel your pain in that department.

Naming of scooters seems pretty standard, most here would probably confess to that. Your choice is apt.

Hopefully you have more than a few opportunities for riding adventures this summer, and are able to capture some photographs to share with us all (we love that).

Simon -- Welcome to MV! While you might get a mere "day" of summer, we're getting cranked up here in the SoCal desert...108F today, 113F tomorrow, 115F Monday, then a cool snap...down to 103F on Tuesday!

Yessir, I have named both of my scoots. My '24 300 GTS "Classico" is named Anita O'Day after the jazz singer. A close friend of mine was friends with her, and he turned me onto her. My '01 ET2 is named Lily after The Who song "Pictures of..." My late, lamented '10 300 GTVie (gone since '12) was named Olive, as she was Portofino green and looked as though she belonged in a martini.

See? It takes all kinds!
