What model VESPA is it? -photo from Tenerife Island

I love taking photos of VESPAs around town and I couldn't find the owner to ask them about their scooter? It has a decal that says "LX125", but is it really an LX?

It looks like a Vespa Cosa.

From what I've heard it's a pain in the ass! It's a full problem Vespa!

A friend of mine had one.
I rode it once but the gearbox kept scraping the pavement in every right hand corner.
I didn't like it very much

Probably the only one most of us will ever see...that was in the dark days of Piaggio's life where they almost didnt make it...selling some rediculously low numbers of units in the early 90's...

At first I thought it was ugly, then after some thought it is interesting in a way...I'd still rather have a regular P...

The Cosa is a great scooter, I have had 3 and have been some of the best scooters I've owned, as for problems! no more problems than your usual Vespa, The problem people had with the Cosa, was pretty much bad timing and Marketing. The Cosa was first sold in 87 till 94, during the Whole Mod Revival scene, People where still able to throw on Mirrors and the whole Mod Bike thing on their P series! the Cosa was marketed as a replacemnet of the P series, which was bad Marketing in Piaggio's part. The Vespa Cosa was way ahead if it's time. The Scooter must not have been that bad if it sold for 7 years, don't knock it until you ride it.

The frame is based on a T5, but the front end is completely different, Some onf the Awesome upgrades are the RPM gauge, fuel gauge, oil indicator, hydralic brakes, electronic chock, helmet compartment, locked cowles, wide rims, everything we all needed on our Vespas.

The T5 looks much more like a PX than a Cosa. Similar leg shield, and cowls but with a cut off rear and the rectangular headlight. And of course the ultra-80s (read: cool!) display.

If there's anything to say about the Cosa from the perspective of living in Rome, it's that I hardly EVER see one. Of course you don't see T5s often either, but that's just because it seems like the Brits came here and bought as many as they could get their hands on and shipped them home. Laughing emoticon
