My fuel gauge stopped working this week. It is stuck on full. The scooter repair shop here in Santa Fe, which prefers not to work on Vespas because of the difficulty in getting parts, but they have tried to be helpful.

Apparently I need a CMO25709 fuel level sender and we have been unable to locate. I tried calling Vespa's main number and they don't answer and the voice mail is full!

Any advice and leads appreciated. Thanks.

CM0257073 is the correct part for your Vespa. The part number you were given has been discontinued.

CM025707

Thanks for your reply. Here's my dilemma. OCD Custom Cycles who is helping me when they were inquiring about a replacement part received an email from another supplier who wrote, "The spare parts catalogs sometimes refer to CMO25707 as an updated version of CMO25709 but that is incorrect. This part has a larger flange is not interchangeable. As of December 2019, there is no known direct-fit substitute for models that use fuel level sender part number CMO25709.

My model was built in 2007.

Can you or anyone else confirm that CM025707 will work? Many thanks to all for advice.

CM025709 was the original code which was superseded by CM025707 and then by CM0257073. So, you need the current code which is CM0257073 already mentioned above by Motovista…

CM086809 is the current part number of the sending unit with the smaller flange, that is a replacement for the sending unit used in the GT 200. It is the unknown direct replacement for CM025709 that has not been available since December 2019. Indeed, this photo I just took might be the only evidence that it still exists in the wild. It is not usually associated with the GTS or GTV. But the 2006-2007 US Market parts catalogs for all three scooters list CM025709 as the fuel sending unit, which is likely an error on Piaggio's part.
Here they are side by side. You can tell which one you need by comparing them. The smaller one is about 2 inches across, and the larger one is close to 2 and 1/2 inches across. CM0257073 is the larger one and CM086809 is the elusive one rumoured to be extinct since December 2019.
