How deep should I push in the rear hub seal (27mm, external)? I currently have it just-deeper-than-flush (outside of seal) with the cases. Should I tap it in further with a socket? Asking because I buggered up the prior seal trying to pound it in too far. (This is on a fresh build on NOS piaggio p200 cases).

Thanks to the hive for advice, as always.

Bumping this question, hoping for a response, still leaking gearbox oil. Turns out the hub is a 30mm, but that shouldn't matter. I am using a 30mm seal.

Go to about the 6 minute mark...

Sorry, I missed your post the first time. I had this video saved from a previous issue.

The location of the seal is not critical other than it being securely set in the bore. I usually look at the surface ( on the hub in this case) that the inner lip rides against and see if there is a groove worn in it and then set the seal a bit in or out so the lip contacts a clean band. Make sense ?
