My 2020 GTS HPE is moving from California to New York. Still trying to figure out if it's going to be shipped as a vehicle or with my furniture. If it goes with my furniture, I'm supposed to drain the fuel tank.

I just ran a search to get a sense of how difficult this would be, but most of what came up was for vintage Vespe. Since I know there's a general bias on this board to when-in-doubt-start-a-new-thread, I'm being lazy and just asking fresh.

Is it as simple as buying a siphon and a gas can and sucking whatever I can out of the tank? Any idea how thoroughly the fluids would need to be drained?

I use one of these. One end in the scooter tank, the other end in a jug on the floor or in the pet carrier.

When I had bikes shipped, the fuel tank just needed to be showing 'E' or around an 1/8th of a tank on the gauge.

At no point did anyone look in the tank except for the bikes that do not have a gauge. In this case it was just a spot check to ensure most gas was gone.

I did not have to empty any other fluids.
