Today, customers who have purchased BGM-shock absorbers from SCOOTER CENTER (BGM is a brand of SCOOTER CENTER) received the following mail (Translated by deepl.com):

"Dear customer,

Scooter Center has been selling BGM shock absorbers for Vespa scooters for 15 years now and has constantly developed them further. Despite permanent quality control on the part of the manufacturer and the strict controls in the incoming goods department at Scooter Center, we have unfortunately discovered a safety-relevant defect which has led to the failure of 2 shock absorbers.

When mounting the adjustment wheel on the piston rod, the amount of activator for the bonding was too low in individual cases, which in the worst case could lead to the screw connection of the shock absorber coming loose.
As this safety-relevant defect is not recognizable from the outside, we are recalling the following shock absorbers from the sales date 01.2023 for inspection as a precautionary measure.

Vespa GTS front: BGM7788NB
Serial number: SC22F, SC23H, SC23K

Vespa GTS rear: BGM7757B
Serial number: SC23K

Vespa PX front: BGM7781
Serial number: SC23A, SC23C, SC23K

Vespa PX front: BGM7781B
Serial number: SC23D, SC23H, SC23J, SC23K, SC24A

Vespa PX rear: BGM7782B
Serial number: SC23H, SC23K

Vespa PK front: BGM7743B
Serial number: SC23J

(The serial number is located on the cover of the oil reservoir next to the piston rod)

The use of shock absorbers must therefore be stopped immediately in order to avoid damage to property and personal injury.

Safety and honest dealings with our customers are very important to us,
Please return the shock absorbers to us as soon as possible. For this purpose, we provide free return labels in this mail.

Please use this link: [LINK REMOVED]

An invoice is not required. The serial number engraved on the lid of the oil container allows us to clearly identify the shock absorbers.

The following options are available for processing:

If you purchased the shock absorbers from the Scooter Center:

-Exchange for new shock absorbers with full warranty. This is possible from the end of July 2024
-Credit note for the invoice amount. An invoice is not required in this case either, as we can determine the purchase via your customer account. This is only possible if you have purchased from us via an existing customer account.

If you have purchased the shock absorbers from other companies:
-Exchange for new shock absorbers with full warranty. This is possible from the end of July 2024.

If the shock absorber is no longer in your possession, please forward this letter to the new owner or let us know their address so that we can contact them.

For questions regarding the process or if you need a transitional shock absorber, please send us an e-mail to

recall@scooter-center.com

We would like to sincerely apologize for the effort and trouble that this action has caused you and ask for your understanding for this unfortunately necessary step.

There can be no compromise when it comes to personal safety.

Many thanks and best regards

Ulf Schröder
