Modern Vespa

Hey all,
Starting in on the restoration of my 1973 Primavera and am looking to make it run. I've scratched my head long enough, now I'm looking for help please.

I don't have spark.

No battery

I disconnected the engine wiring from the rest of the scooter.

I've hooked up a voltmeter when kicking it over and got 1.4 volts. I then noticed a slight tingle from the spark plug lead when kicking it over.

Thinking it may be the alternator I stacked up four AA batteries and hooked them up to give it some voltage. Not only did that not make any difference, it also completely fried the batteries. (0 voltage in them and hot as hell)

I'm not sure on where to start now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Spark comes from the points, condensor and HT coil on the back of the engine. Nowhere else!

First, what's the condition of the stator wiring? Insulation crumbling? Wires frayed? Cut? Loose?

Second, What's the condition of the red wire running from the junction box to the HT coil?

Third, is everything tight and secure?

Fourth, what's your points gap set at? You need some tools.

Check out the tabs on the left and memorize it before you ever try and mess with your electronics again.
