Has anyone fitted a Malossi variator to a stock Lx 125 and is there any notice change in the performance/ride of the scooter or is it just better to stick with the standard one on a standard engine
Advice..

IMHO I find it best to stick to stock OEM for best reliability. Very little improvement noted on aftermarket parts

if you get more top end you lose a bit of bottom end, and if gain bottom end you lose top end.. the only thing your changing is the gearing . if yo uwant more power then you have to find that in the engine or exhaust.. most 10 to 12hp motors can be tuned up to around 18 to 20 hp easy enough if you know how to use basic tools and a die grinder/dremel....

Neither of those things are true.

On a stock LX 125, which might be the only one in California, the bike will accelerate better and have a higher top speed than with a stock variator. The difference is mostly apparent on grades and in passing through traffic. The improvements aren't as noticeable on a Piaggio brand scooter as they are on one of the Japanese ones, but they have been well documented using test equipment.

But I do want to know more about doubling the horsepower on a 125 with a dremel.
