The gear selector box taper pin keeps falling out on my 74 bajaj vbb.
See picture for reference. I'm thinking of jb welding it in. Good idea or bad idea? Don't want to make anything worse

Bad idea. I'd replace the whole selector box rather than try a new pin but do the best you can afford!

I agree. The looseness of it has probably wallowed out the bores.

McMaster sells taper pin drills and reamers so you could clean up and/or slightly oversize the hole and use a slightly larger pin (though it may cost more than a new gear selector). Aircraft Spruce sells taper pins that are secured with a nut on the threaded small end.

Just a thought.

Wonder why they didn't originally use a roll pin?

Follow up. I reinstalled the tapered pin with the green loctite and its holding strong so far. No more issues
