I rewired my stator with the kit from Scooter West. I have repaired a few old tube amps and I'm pretty careful about how I do this sort of thing with diagrams etc, So I have issues with my charging circuit and after looking closer I may have screwed the pooch somehow. The first coil on the stator after the ignition coil, yellow wire, bigger coil, is going to the regulator "G" input. The red wire on the next smaller coil goes to the fuse and splits to the ign switch and pos battery. Looking at a schematic, I see a red wire coming from the first, ,bigger coil after the ignition coil to the battery/ switch. The yellow wire on the second coil after the ign. coil goes to the regulator "G" connect.

Have I screwed this up? I saw Robot work on an old scoot with a Yellow and Red with the same connections as mine on the stator coils. Should the bigger coil after the ignition coil go to the battery?

I was looking at the "after 79" schematic from scooter help. Frame number is 56341, I have two purple wire and grey on the regulator. Have white, red, green on the CDI.

Post a pic of your stator straight on so we can see all the coils. We'll be able to tell you what wires go where.

Don't know if it worked. If you look at the "after 79" schematic on scooterhelp.com , I have the red and yellow wires on the two charging coils reversed.

Pics don't seem to want to open. I will have to try a camera tomorrow and see if that works.

I took some pics with my camera and I can't get the PC to upload them. Oh well, there it is. Guess I'll have to find some two year old to help with this.

Your stator re-wire and coil sizes look correct. Plug everything in per the scooterhelp wiring diagram and see if you have ignition and lights.

If you dont, tell us what particular circuit you are having problems with. Dont unplug/ plug in anything else. One step at a time.

Coils check out as per "Robot's" ohm tolerances from scooter west. My yellow wire goes to the reg/rectifier. My red wire goes to the fuse/battery. The scooter help schematic has red on the first charging coil to battery and #2 charging coil, yellow, going to the reg/rectifier. So, my colors are correct as to where they end up, they're just on different coils from the schematic.

I get 13.4-13.7 volts at idle on the input of reg/rect and about 20 at higher idle.
B+ output is about 12.6-12.9 volts. AC, purple wire, in and out on reg/rect runs about 7.2-12.4 volts.

Having trouble starting it up. sometimes it starts pretty good and restarts. Have taken it on short 2 mile runs and it runs pretty good but it bogs somewhat at full throttle. Lights, horn, turn sigs work.

Ok so lights are working, battery is charging. Don't overthink it!

Check your carb and jetting for the restarting issue first. The bogging at full throttle isn't right.

It was last year about this time I started on this stator rewire. Did the rotted green wire replacement back to the CDI. I put in a new battery, wired it up with +/- backwards. Took it for a ride to warm up for oil change. Shortly after that I realized I screwed up the battery connect. I can't recall if I put new battery in before or after the stator rewire. I'm thinking after.

I did a carb clean then as it wouldn't start. Still no good. Got the bike out again recently and did another carb clean. Original carb was a 20/20. Ten years ago I put a 24/24 model on it. Had a scooter mechanic put new seals in and I asked him to check the carb. This scoot has always been an easy start. Original owner with 7000 miles. It has been starting a bit better this year but it isn't right by any means. Compression at 120, sparks good with battery drill on flywheel. Sort of at a lose as to what next

Missing insulation liquid on your ignition wires.

I suspect your issues are blocked idle jet/idle jet circuit or carb settings. Beyond that, could be all sorts of things.

maybe I will give the carb another cleaning. I was pretty thorough the last time I did it, pulling the jets and spraying cleaner through the passages etc. have heard of stray voltages on stator. maybe try a coating on bare wires, see if that helps,
Thanks
