Good morning or evening, could anyone tell me what oil to use for a 2023 Gts.I've been told by my local motorcycle shop (not Vespa) that a 2023 Gts with stop/start needs different oil to a Gts without stop/start technology.

What does it say in your user manual?

The first place I took in for 600 mile check put in 5w-40 and different service shop said this was the wrong oil as it's a stop/start model and should be 0-30w,the hand book shows the same.
Just wanted to know if it really makes that much difference.

5w-40 is normal for a gts 300.

But as your gts is a start stop I'm assuming it's a 125/150.

The workshop manual for a gts 125/150 start/stop also says 0w-30.

I'd go with what the manuals say.

I'm guessing in the Isle of Wight you're not stuck in traffic for 30 minutes a day using the start-stop though.

I'd stick with the 5W-40 until it's convenient to swap back to 0W-30.

No a traffic jam is 5 cars on the island, but I've turned the stop/start off since I've had it.

In which case no worries. The less viscous oil is purely to take a bit of load off the starter in start/stop mode when fully warmed up.

When I had the 1st year service done they put 0W-30 in so should be OK.
