I have a 2009 Piaggio Fly 150 with only 264 original miles on it. It was always stored in a garage. I recently changed the oil, and it was starting and running but then stopped starting. It cranks but will not turn over. After replacing the carburetor with a new identical OEM carb - it still does the same thing. There is spark at the spark plug, gas does appear to be entering the carb and even with the air filter removed, it still just cranks. I've tried holding both and then each individual brake lever and also switched the kill switch on and off several times - still nothing. I thought perhaps the fuel mixture on the new carb may have to be adjusted - but wouldn't the engine still start. I didn't move it yet. I checked and rechecked the new carb installation and everything seems correct. Any guidance would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you.

you have a 15 yr old scoot with 260 miles on it. I recommend you take it to a professional and let them service it and get it sorted out.

did you drain and flush the tank? if you're running old gas thru there it's likely clogged the new carb as well.

put the air filter back on, or since the the OE air filter has likely long since turned to dust, a new air filter in there. the CV carb requires a tuned intake tract to operate properly. it won't hardly idle, let alone run with it disconnected.

there's an absolute ton of other things that will need addressing, but let's start with getting it going first.

Thank you. The gas was new but I did not drain the tank. What and where is the tuned intake tract?

Was there enough time in there for a critter to make its home in your exhaust?

Has the vacuum line perished?

thank you. those statements confuse me as well

To me cranking it is turning it over

now if its not firing and or spitting and sputtering and coughing that's another issue.

so why would somebody replace a part that is doing its job and making the engine turn over is beyond me,
