Hello! I've been having a headache with my GT 200 2005's speedometer. I replaced the cable last month and the odometer started working, but the Speedometer didn't. The ODO stopped again, so I finally took it in to my local Vespa dealer to get more proper eyes on it. They just messaged me that my entire speedometer assembly is completely seized and it chewed up my brand new cable too.

They quoted me just under $350, and a two month wait for OEM parts and labor. And looking at used units online that seems about the going rate. My question is, I do indeed want to pursue a working speedometer. Should I go OEM, or is there an aftermarket dashboard that works in the GT 200 that could be an upgrade and a quicker solution?

Thanks for the input!

Just get a bicycle speedometer - less than $20. Or get the SIP all-singing all-dancing one for ~$300 (in stock).

Yes! That's just what I was hoping for! If I'm spending 300 either way, might as well get an upgraded interface!

Did you only replace the cable or also the other parts like the little white gear inside the mounting point down below? That fixed it for me on my GT 125 as it was gued up.

The screw in the gear was used to get it out since it was stuck
