Hi,
I would like to run a cable from the USB charger inside the glove box (keyless 2024 GTS300) to my Quadlock charger on the mirror stem.
What is the easiest, least destructive way of doing this? I think I saw someone go through the shopping bag hook back plate. Is there any other recommended way?
Cheers,
Semp

You can carve out a piece of the corner of the glovebox on the top left-hand side, without cutting so far that the cut is visible from the outside. Then you'll find a cord going to a phone or GPS fits very nicely and securely.

What's a good tool for the job? Diagonal pliers, box cutter, hacksaw, hot knife?

IIRC I used a hacksaw, followed by wire cutters, followed by a file.

I used a Dremel type sanding drum.

I just use a flat cord and no drilling/sanding/burring is necessary...

I just connected the USB lead to the socket in the glove box and then passed the lead down between the two hinges and then closed the door. The lead wasn't trapped as I was still able to move it. Then up over the closed door to the phone mount on the left mirror stem. I put a couple of wire clips further up to stop the wire flapping around. No permanent damage to the bike necessary.

I put a rat tail file in my drill and used that to grind a nice little curve in the top edge of the door!

As I said, I didn't need to damage the door. There is enough clearance at the bottom between the hinges for the lead to exit without trapping it.

This is how I did mine:- I connected the USB lead to the factory USB socket in the glove box, I drilled a hole in the fuse box panel for the USB lead to pass through. I also extended the notch for one of the tags on the left knee pad and then passed the lead through this notch. I was able to refit the knee pad and have the USB lead go up the handlebars where I have a RAM mount on the base of the left mirror stem with no damage being done to the knee pad.

Here is a picture showing the notch and the route of the USB lead passing through the fuse box panel and back out through the bottom of left knee pad tag:-

Won't work for mine. There is not enough room behind there even for a lead.

WOW, I didn't realise the new GTSs were so tight for space behind the knee pad that theres not enough room for a cable....

Without cutting into the plastic, all of the space is taken up by the huge keyless sensor.

If you're running a wire that's going to be there permanently, why not run it up inside the headset?

For my case use, I don't need to have the cable in use permanently. I only need it to power a satnav occasionally. So having a cable running up from the knee pad as and when I need it is fine for me.
