I have borrowed tools from O'Reilly, they don't know what they have or how to use them. I might be able to get by with a big puller, but it would be risky because I'd have to hook the arms under the edges of the flywheel, and that seems like a recipe for disaster.
The back story is my starter motor would just spin, but not engage to turn the engine. I kind of figured out how it works from parts blow-ups and seeing some engine rebuild videos from Robot. The sprag clutch uses the same principles as the starter clutch on Honda bikes and scooters from the 70's and 80's, so I figured that was shot. I took the side cover off and what I can see looks fine. The starter motor gear is in good shape and meshed into the larger, fine toothed gear. I'm stuck because I can't get the flywheel nut to loosen with my Milwaukee impact. I tried the starter once more and it worked perfect, even with the cover off. What the hell?
