Here is a video I made from round 1 of the East Coast Scooter/Moped GP race this summer. If you wanna only watch racing clips, skip to about 4:55. Round 2 is coming up soon, if you live anywhere in the Northeast, come out and hang, or better yet, race!

That's pretty cool.

I know basically nothing about how the racing rules work.

Are there class limits on the geared scoots? I was surprised to see so many P's. Like...at least get a Sprint and save the extra 50 lbs of weight.

for geared scooters, if theres enough attendance, it would be split into small frame and large frame. I think stock large frame can race in the small frame class (if theres enough attendance). But since about a dozen at most show up, we just all race the geared scooters together. Its more fun that way. I also raced the open class with the small auto 70cc scooters. It feels bad to get beat by a scooter with more than half your engine size, but god damn those things are fast.

That sounds like a blast!

Are there stock & tuned classes? Or just geared/non-geared and stock/tuned?

Because I'm pretty sure my smallie would run off and hide from any bike in that video, other than my inability to ride it effectively on that track. Razz emoticon

For geared scooters, I believe its just large frame and small frame. But like I said, the turn out for geared scooters isnt huge, roughly 10ish people, that we just run them all together. Its not nearly as competitive as the european and Indonesian race circuits, but still fun all around.
