Jungle drums sounded and I found myself another project for the weekend. Restoration is 70% complete but the owner has a BFA with Vape to install and needs my help with harness and cables. He wants to everything electric working like a stock 1980 p200. Only problem is the previous owner cut off the spare tire side.

I'm envisioning building a box to hold everything under the gas tank (no more autolube/oil tank). If this guys got deep pockets, maybe have someone 3D print a box? Anyone ever gotten creative like this?

I mounted a battery box and all the electronics under the fuel tank on my pink PK200. The only issue i can see with doing the same thing on the green P, is that the fuel tank's oil tank tube will probably get in the way. It would be a shame to have to cut it off. I'd be more inclined to use a non-oiler tank and paint it green.

There's enough space left there to mount a DC regulator and flasher.

A battery isn't needed... well yeah, it would be better (no flicker at idle and lights that work with the motor off), but I've run the Vape DC with no battery and the LED idle flicker is minimal.
And you get to keep the sight glass

I'm sure with some Amazon searching, I could find a small sealed battery that wouldn't interfere with the tube. On second glance, it looks like there still some meat outside the cowl that I could try and mount the regulator/ turn signal relay on and just have the battery under the tank?

Right on Ray! I'll keep this in mind. I don't know what kind of bulbs the owner has in mind but I'll propose it!

Use a small lithium-ion battery. Antigravity, Shorai, or similar. Lots of power, tiny size

FYI, if the owner ever wants to use a SIP digital speedo, it's likely going to flicker and shut off at an idle if a battery isn't used.
