I acquired a 2008 Stella that's been sitting around for many years and I'm attempting to fix it up as best I can. I know little about fixing the scooter besides a few youtube videos. I'm trying to change the spark plug, but the old plugs' (BPR6ES) tip looks different from my new one (B7ES). Did I buy the wrong one, or is the cap different from what I need? If it's different, how do I go about changing it?

Also, where could I buy rubber parts? almost all of the rubber parts on the scooter need replacing. [/img]

The little aluminum cap on the new plug unscrews. You can unscrew it with a pair of pliers.

Some spark plug caps snap on to the aluminum part, and some have a fine wire that rides in the grooves. Your old plug should be your example.

Scooter Mercato sells lots of classic vespa P-series parts that will fit your Stella. Also, I've had good luck on E-Bay, buying from Indian sellers. Usually the order arrives in 2-3 weeks, packed in a box padded with Indian newspapers, which are interesting to read.

The 6 is the correct heat range for a stock Stella. Why do you want to go colder?

Also, the P on the old plug refers to a projected insulator, which is wrong. I would use the B7ES before I would use that. If you're stock, though, what you really want is a B6ES or BR6ES.

For rubber parts, you're best off buying genuine Piaggio parts. The o.e. LML rubber was a step below that. The aftermarket rubber sold by Indian ebay vendors today is still another step below that. Scooter Mercato has the genuine Piaggio stuff (or can get it for you from SIP). They also sell a kit, but that is the aftermarket Indian stuff.
