Hello again, we will post registrations on September 15, you can follow the news at https://www.facebook.com/VespaArahal . We do about 250km through the mountains.

Gracias for the invitation. Do you have a link to the event? I will try inscribe.

No, fue de un chico de Casariche.

I will keep the stock 116 till I fit the Polini box and then follow the advice of Jack221 and go down from 130. Have a set of jets ready. Air and slow running too.
Very much tempted to go richer on the slow running already.

Buenas CORRADINO!

Nice and practical combination of wheels.

Yes, you will probably get more use out of them here in the south. There are só many outings, ride outs here.
The network of comarcales here is both ´Touge´ heaven and Vespa ditto.

Hope we can do a Spanish NSM meet up one day

Does it make good sense to go a bit richer on the slow running jet while running in the OEM set up?
I am at 750 meters altitude here ánd it has a flat spot from pick up.

Ah, ok, totally stock. This is an older premix engine. The main jet is the euro autolube size. Maybe it had a new carb at some point. Or an attempt to adjust for altitude.

Keep the 150AC and drilled filter. Even stock jetting can be improved. Main jet first. Pilot jet in chapter 2.

What to do. If you ride it for a while to warm it up fully. Stop somewhere remote. Put it on the stand, turn the headlight off and hold the throttle wide open. How high does it rev? Very high? Too high?
Take a box of main jets and fit bigger main jets, until it will not rev at wide open throttle. Smokes a lot and splutters. Reduce the main jet one at at time until it revs higher but still slightly splutters a bit.

Next, take your time, ride it around with the bigger jet. See how it feels. Check how fast it accelerates, from maybe a traffic light to a sign post, something on the side of the road at the top of 3rd gear. Maybe up a shallow hill.
Reduce the main jet one at a time, keep doing the same test. When one main jet size too small it will do the same test slower. Put it back to the bigger jet. Main jet finished.

A good, sea level, stock premix engine will be 122 - 128 at this point.

Thank you, much obliged.
I am only júst running it in after an engine overhaul.
Will look in the main jets set and go up somewhat and empty another tank before doing the rev limit main jet exercise.

Ok, in the 122 - 128 range have 122, 125, 128 in the set. Will fit a 125 for now.

Before taking it out though first sort the mess the previous owner made of a DIY return spring on the throttle.
The throttle cable did not adjust nicely so took the plastic handlebar cover off and

That spring is wild, like what else was done wild in that bike's history.

You have inspections in Spain like the rest of Europe and the UK (throttle has to return), right? Can't imagine what that's like to go through

"I'd" try a 120 MJ and see how it goes.
That might richen the pilot circuit enough to compensate for the lean bog you're experiencing after drilling the filter.

Always adjust the idle mixture screw before doing anything else to solve acceleration issues after any change. You introduced a lean at low rpm to the idle jet by drilling above it.

By the way, you're going to go through what Jack221 suggests over again when you install the Polini box. "I'd" wait.
Good luck!

Buenas Ray8

Yes, horrible periodic inspection Facepalm emoticon

Yes, more weird DIY proof on the bike. Also plaincarelessness like missing bolt or nuts and p.e. in the plastic cover 2 of the four inserts were loose in the cracked stubs.

Yes, faff with the idle mixture after each and every change, Even fitting the (missing) filter lid gasket makes a difference on how it runs.

Have dropped in a 125 because of the altitude and because am running in.

Leaving it like this two tank fulls. Running it in and sorting issues. Then fit the Polini and do the Jack221 routine.

p.s. the more bits I sort, the more impressed I am by the design of details and the quality.

Next is the lhs rear indicator. Should work but does not. Chasing contact is not made easier by it being a no battery model. On the other hand it deletes risk of a short. Simply need to get my multimeter over to my new place and check resistances.

Went out for a morning stroll with charming on the pillion.
Só relaxing that; no hurry, no worry pottering about.
It runs good btw. Better. For now not touching the carburation anymore. It also starts nicely from the saddle albeit less nice for my calf.

Anyway;

Thanks.
The tree is 30 meters from my new home.
The Hotel some 400 meters.

The photo with the palm at the beginning of the thread is at the farm which a half own, at 7 kms.
A bit further on will no doubt make more photos there and in the two ever so scenic Andalucian mountain villages.

Right.
Basically all tubes of 2 stroke oil are 125cc.
Running the DN till reserve and fill up at the next gas station is about 5 l.
Empty the tube makes 2.5% mix.
That is ok during running in a bit rich on lubrication.
But after I would like to go 2%.
Meaning I need 100cc tube.
Hmmmm....

EUREKA! it´s even for lube!!

Told my charming company we need to use up the tube; ´OK´ she said without batting an eyelid ROFL emoticon

Working my way over Margarita.
We´ve decided she is a Margarita

Ordered some bits* incl. the PX throttle return spring. Deleted the DIY bodge and would prefer not to have it fitted but ITV may differ in opinion so best have it.
The PX throttle return spring question could not be clearer as how to. Thanks!

* found why the LHS rear blinker is off the blink; missed the contact bit in the male connector of the cofano. Dunno how it took me this long to see

Lights work but the switch gear is probably wired same DIY way as the spring was conceived Facepalm emoticon
Sorted three thingies, not feeling like opening the switch. Have three wiring diagrams shining no light* (pun intended) on the matter. Should be simple no?! but... mañana.

The LHS mirror sagged: The bracket had cracket (bb) and vibrated through. Straight to the machine shop. Welded, ground, mounted.

as to the jetting:
Had to fill up again so felt a bit less of a barbarian to try the rev out. After all, nicely warmed through, on the stand, no load; should be ok.
Revved cleanly no sputter.
Will leave the 125 in for the time being but good feeling.

It starts promptly and tick-over inspires confidence.

Today Stage 7 of La Vuelta a España started in Archidona; at 15 minutes with the scoot. We took La Primavera because the very steep hills + hard wind would have been a bit hard on still being run in Margarita.

Parked halfway a bit of closed off road passing the Recinta Ferial where the presentations and stall were. Just 30 meters behind!

Next walked to the Plaza Ochavada where the whole caravan wiggled through. Amazing!

Prefer the floating seat and pillion combination on this bike. Sits a bit higher and can adjust it to my weight, adding to better suspension.
Riding with charming on the pillion adds variation from the seat on the 2019 La Primavera.
The pov of charming? She lóves it anywhichway. Coming back from the start of La Vuelta last week she observed that she experiences the intimacy of it like a form of making love.

today took Margarita to the next village up the road; Vva del Trabuco.
Talk with two classic bike friends about the meeting coming Sunday.
Next went to the council man in charge to sort ´stuff´.
The leaflet will be printed tomorrow as will the Fieste progam featuring our ´event´ too.
Áfter publication we can talk with the Policia Local about their accompanying our ride out.
Me being pat of organising will enter charming company as participant with Margarita.

Anyway, the P200E rides better and better as it gets run in. Might use up a tankfull more before I fit the Polini. Will see.

After arriving back at the piso, parked in front and, because the engine is properly heated up, revved it. Yes, we have neighbours but it simply is not an issue. What a luxury.
Does not rev as high I thought it might but totally clean, no sputter whatsover. No smoking either. Definitely not too rich.

Meanwhile none the wiser about an expansion exhaust
