Hi Guys,
I'm new here, and was looking for some advice on my 15 year old LML 125 4t.
I'm getting no spark when kicking over or with E- Ignition. Changed spark plug, ignition coil and lead and still the same. Checked all wiring connections and weirdly when the center wire on my signal / flasher unit is disconnected, the electric starter is dead. (Not sure if this is a separate issue or not)
Not much of a mechanic but I've read the next step would be a Stator plate change? I'm a plumber so know how to use tools but my question is how difficult are these stator plates to swap? And if it sounds like I should be checking something else first?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Benny

I dont know anything about the LML 4stroke but since the starter isnt working, have you made sure youve got a fully charged in good condition battery on it?

It can be anything at this point. Do you have a DMM handy? In some scooters having a low voltage battery can be a hassle, my PX150 for instance would not turn-off using the kill switch if the battery is low.

Test the spark plug wire for continuity. Also, the spark plug rubber/plastic plug might appear to be put in correctly but it can be very deceiving, I suggest you cut 1/4" of the spark plug wire and re-twist the plug into the spark plug wire because after a few years the contact inside the spark plug wire widens.

You can also test if the coil is getting any power into it. Clean your ground well.

Check the kill switch, they aren't the most robust design and frequently fail.

I think the kill switch must be a US-mandated thing, I've never seen a scooter with one fitted.

I had a 2003 Stella that was my first scoot, very reliable and was so easy to maintain. A couple years ago I took a 2008 in trade and it was nothing but trouble - one electrical snafu after the other, I was really glad to get rid of it. If there ever is a next time, I would go thru the whole system and eliminate all the safety switches to simplify it back to a 1970 standard. I guess you could say that I have never been impressed with Indian motorcycle electronic systems. Even the latest Royal Enfields have a way to go to get them up to a better standard.
