Hi! I own a Vespa et2 50cc and now im thinking about some upgrades. So the question is should i buy et4 125 donor and swap into mine or just buy 70cc cylinder kit, exhaust and variator. I found donor for only 180€ so in case of price swap would be more reliable. What do you think?
If the et4 125 engine is in good condition i would swap for that price. If/when something happens to the 125 engine you can then decide wether fixing the 125 or swapping back to the 50 makes more sense to you.
The 125 4 stroke has way more moving parts and will cost more to repair.
The 50 2 stroke has less parts and for the most part very simple to replace or upgrade parts yourself.
As for performance the 50 2 stroke will out do the 125 with a couple upgrades. All depends what you are looking for.
It just depends on what you are looking for. If your Vespa is for daily use, then a 125cc 4 stroke is a good option as it is more reliable.
I have a DR 72cc on my ET2, and it drives really nice with a very good throttle response and a top speed of about 70/80 km/h. I also have a Dell'orto 17.5mm carburetor on it and some other stuff. The nice thing about 2 stroke is that you can achieve a lot with simple adjustments, way more than 4 stroke. If your scooter is just for fun, then I would personally choose the 70cc.
