Humbled by the prospect of learning repairs and maintenance, and looking for guidance from MV.
A few simple starting questions:
1) the fuel petcock is only up and down. It has a fuel gauge and no reserve. Hoping to confirm that up is the off position, and down is on? - CONFIRMED
2) it had sat for 6 weeks prior to me picking it up. The electric start barely worked at first, then no longer works? I could kick start with difficulty. Normal behavior for a low battery? Lights work. Buy a new battery? - BUYING 1 amp battery tender
3) the carb pours gas over. Figuring stuck float. I'm planning a carb rebuild and new spark plug prior to riding. - YES
4) the gas gauge works, but the low fuel light stays on. Below is the fuel sending unit, anyone familiar with this??? IS THE PROBLEM USUALLY IN THE SENDING UNIT OR HEADSET? The float is fine. This is the replacement.
