I have a few questions. I bought a new GTS today (Red, or as I shall say for now on, Rosso Coraggioso ) and didn't get the Top Case. Now, I am second-guessing myself. Do you think it's worth the extra money? Do you feel it affects the ride in any way? Also, did you get the backrest as well? Lastly, does the light on the box connect to the brake light on the scooter?

Do you think it's worth the extra money? The TC is available in two sizes: small (32L capacity) and large (36L capacity). That doesn't sound like a big difference, but it does make a difference (visually). The smaller one is primarily intended for the Primavera, the larger one for the GTS. But they are compatible on both. The TC can be mounted on a folding luggage rack or on a rigid luggage rack. What seems somewhat abstruse is that mounting on the folding luggage rack is more complex (several screws), while only one central screw is used on the rigid luggage rack. However, when the TC is removed, the rigid carrier remains in place. One thing must be clear to you: The original TC is not designed for constant changing with/without TC. If the thing is on then it stays on... (or is finally removed). brian33433 wrote: Do you feel it affects the ride in any way? brian33433 wrote: Also, did you get the backrest as well? brian33433 wrote: Lastly, does the light on the box connect to the brake light on the scooter? |

You don't have to have a Vespa branded topcase. Nor do you necessarily need one that comes in the desired colour - you can always get a couple of rattle-cans made up to match what you want.
Here's our two Vespas back in 2011, about to set off to Greece from London, with Piaggio X9 45l topcases: ![]()

Even without any TC, I prefer to fit the heavy bar-end weights anyway to reduce front wheel shake and vibration.

For me and my needs a top case is a necessity. You will be surprised with the amount of groceries or whatever you can fit into these( I have the larger one). They are expensive but well worth it.

I prefer storing my helmet in the top case when I am stopped anywhere, rather than hanging it off the post in the pet carrier. Also, as others have noted, groceries, take out food, or other cargo can be safely conveyed within, with no additional heat from the engine as there is in the bucket.
Just my $0.02, understand. Cheers, Bob |

I bought my GTS last year the top case was backordered for a few weeks, so I rode without it. I can't store the helmet under the seat it's not big enough. I got the top case with backrest installed and love it. I use it all the time feels so much better to store helmet or extra stuff. I did not notice a ride difference between having it and not having it. I would recommend it.

Must be great for carrying stuff and somewhere to keep your helmet but I could never have one on my Gts,as it just ruins the look of a lovely looking scooter,I expect I'm in the minority but definitely doesn't do anything for the looks in my opinion.

I've not completely made my mind on them either way, I definitely wouldn't have one on 24/7 because they look shite, but I could be persuaded to bolt one on for a trip to the continent just for the extra security of lockable luggage.

I've had a top case on every scooter I've ever owned. It provides secure and weather proof storage for my helmet and gloves when parked. I can carry a pretty good amount of stuff in the OEM top case for my GTS.
I also have a Givi 47L top case that I use when traveling multiple days. It's not painted to match, but still looks reasonably good and is very well made. I have a light kit from Admore Lighting in my Givi case for running, brake, and turn signals that works really well. Another advantage of the Givi cases - they are easily removed, leaving only the mounting bracket behind on the rack. ![]() |

I like the additional lighting on that top case. I wish Vespa offered that on theirs. I bought the brakefree helmet light after I added my top case to offer additional lighting up higher where its more visible. It works really well.
