I recently bought a LXV125 2008 which needed a ton of work to make road worthy. I've done most of the major jobs now and am getting close to getting out on the bike. However, there is 1 thing niggling me which for me is a big part of scootering… the smell, or more the lack of smell!
I've seen an 1999 ET2 50cc 2 stroke engine for sale and am really tempted to try a swap on my bike. Firstly, is this even possible? Would it be a major job and forfeit much just for the sake of the classic 2 stroke smell?
From what I've read, the 50cc can be modified easier than the 125cc and sometimes reaches a comparable level of power and performance.
Have many done it?
Would it be manageable with some basic garage skills?
How much would need changing - electric start / loom etc?

I took a hard look at doing something like this. Motor is pretty much bolt in. Would need harness and CDI as well at minimum.
