A Vespa with worn shocks and bushings is a scary ride. I didn't realize how bad it was until I replaced them. My Stella had this squirrelly feeling at speeds above 40 mph like the wheels were trying to crawl out from under it. Enough so that I pulled over a number of times to tighten the wheel and hub nuts. What a difference new shocks and bushings made.

A section of road I ride on almost always has gusty winds. Last time I was there, I braced myself expecting to be all over the road, but nothing happened. I unclenched and enjoyed the ride.

Good info and thanks for sharing. Sounds like you have a much better ride now.
