Couldn't wait to install the new box. Had to modify ( hammer) the swing arm bracket to get the nut to line up with the bolt , typically. Saw there was going to be some spring interference but figured the tab could be bent slightly.

Put the stand up to check it and then this :

Nobody said I'd need to switch to a side stand to use this box.

"NOTE: The exhaust was designed explicitly for the PX models. On older vehicles, which were built before the PX series, it is possible that the stop plate of the main stand touches the manifold. Either modify it accordingly or check if a too long distance piece was mounted between shock absorber and frame (Sprint / Rally = 26mm). On the 125-150 cc engines of the Sprint, VBB etc. the engine block should also be provided with a hole for a through exhaust screw. Otherwise the exhaust will only hang on the rear bracket. This is not sufficient in the long run, because it can break off."

Thanks. Please excuse me for starting a new thread for this and should have stuck with my "NOISE" thread.

The ride height at the rear is fine right now so I don't think shortening the shock is the answer but I might see how that works.

I figured it would fit because of the LML in this Motovespa 150S : " Polini Stock Type Replacement Exhaust for Vespa PX, Genuine Stella and LML Star 2-Stroke Scooters." Nobody mentioned this potential problem.

Pretty much all the expansion boxes are going to force you to do something non-standard with the stand on pre-P bikes.

You can fit a SIP Road 2.0 and keep the stock center stand, but you're either relocating the center stand forward or going to a side stand otherwise.

I think I was able to fit a SIP RoadXL with only moderate clearance issues on my SprintV (and an SR 3.0 for P200). I have a Malossi box on my GL that actually fits, but I had to relocate the stand forward for other big boxes.

Apparently, SM sells an adapter bracket that moves the stand forwards to clear the pipe. Looks good. What's another $50 ?

I guess I will have to remove the stand just to ride and experience the exhaust.

I fabricated a relocation bracket for my GL that did the same thing. It works, just feels a little funny getting the bike on and off the stand.

Yeah. Wouldn't be too hard. I appreciate all the recommendations for this Polini but I have to try it out before I go any further with it.

I took the stand off and did the 3 mile loop around the area. Mix of flat, curves, down hill and back up to home. I am not in love with the sound. The feel is great but just too loud for me. I like the low tone but not worth modifying the bike for. Did have a block-o wood in the glove box.

WOW!!! I did not see that coming. I had polini boxes on the P and the sprint veloce but never had an issue with the fitment.

I specifically bought a Polini box for the earlier bikes as it has one tab. Has same fitment issue as the photo.

What do you mean by "one tab" ?
You'd have to sit on the seat to put it down, too ?

I ended up using that same stainless MRP bracket on my VNA Allstate 208.

One tab at the exhaust mounting. When I sit on the bike there is clearance. So close to fitting. Annoying

Awaiting order from SM to deliver the relocation kit mentioned above
